All tutors are qualified to:-

• 64 UCAS tariff points from A2 or BTEC diploma in a relevant subject

• Pass in other business related qualifications of NVQ level 3; VCTC

• Pass in Access to HE in a relevant subject with at least 45 credits at level 3

• 3 GCSEs including English Language and Mathematics A* to C or 9 to 4 where numeric grades are being awarded
If you’re a mature applicant (aged 21 or over) with no formal academic qualifications, you may be considered for entry to the programme if you can demonstrate that you have experience, motivation and personal qualities appropriate for foundation degree level work. You’ll typically have at least three years’ relevant work experience at an appropriate level and have prepared yourself for academic studies.

All none standard entry applicants will be individually interviewed by the programme leader to assess suitability and clarify any further actions to be taken. You should have a curriculum vitae and supporting evidence of both employment and education; including references.

Year 1: Dynamic Business Environment (30 credits)
Understand the range of dynamic factors in the general business environment over which organisations may have limited, if any control over, exploring the topics of markets and globalisation, technological development, fundamental macroeconomic elements and concepts, social, cultural and ecological factor

Year 1: Ideas, Creativity and Entrepreneurship (30 credits)
Develop your enterprising behaviours, skills and attributes, and build your awareness of entrepreneurial career paths and responsible entrepreneurship.

Year 1: Principles of Marketing (30 credits)
Examine and interpret key marketing concepts like: marketing orientation and practice; the marketing mix; marketing research and the use of financial techniques; planning and budgeting; ratio analysis and evaluation; marketing applications of consumer psychology and behaviour; digital marketing and the changing approaches to communication; the marketing environment and marketing ethics.

Year 1: Understanding and Managing People (30 credits)
Explore the range of concepts and models related to understanding and managing people, work and behaviour in national and international organisations.

The course is assessed through one or two assignments per module and scheduled across a range of submission points in the year.

Assignment tasks are based around industry scenarios and are practical in many of the modules. Development of self-reflection, awareness and evaluation of your own skills are built into tasks so you can reflect and develop your skills further. Some assessments also include elements of self and peer group assessments. All are marked out of 100%.

• Formative assessment (developmental) takes a wide variety of forms e.g. seminars; regular weekly tutorials; interaction in class; peer feedback on in-class presentations; workshop activity with feedback; on-line quizzes; tutor feedback on group and project work; and regular final assessment monitoring with guidance to improve. Examples of final assessments include:
• Role plays e.g. interviewing, appraisals
• Work based research on a chosen topic e.g. Managing and implementing change within the customer service department of M&S
• Examinations e.g. multiple choice & essay style
• Academic business reports e.g. Investigation of the marketing plans of an organisation
• Business presentations e.g. Business proposals, Global Market analysis
• Business meetings e.g. Discussions of environmental sustainability
• Essay’s e.g. Comparing & contrasting management philosophies
• Portfolios e.g. compilation of practical skills developed in management functions

All of the books required for the course are available from the library. However, many students choose to buy some of the core textbooks for the course and/or a laptop. You may also need to print your assignments and other documents.

Campus printing costs start from 5p per page.

Estimated costs are £300 for a laptop up to £100 each year for books and printing.
