Leading the way in hate crime awareness

The UCEN Manchester team have published a comprehensive and insightful guide to hate crime awareness for other institutions to use.

The Bee Kind guide, produced by Student Voice Co-Ordinator Jenny Brook, follows UCEN Manchester and The Manchester College’s successful #StudentsStandTogether campaign earlier this year.

Jenny said: “The guide provides a template for other colleges and higher education institutions to help staff and students develop their awareness of early indicators, as well as the consequences, of hate crime.

“Our students were incredibly receptive to the activities the guide covers and it helped to generate some interesting, informed and insightful conversations around inclusivity and hate crime.”

The guide, which has been published in conjunction with the Office of Students and Greater Manchester Police, also looks at how to address issues around hate crime through a toolkit of information and activities.

The Bee Kind guide is available to download here. It has been produced as part of UCEN Manchester’s continued commitment to equality and diversity, and to encourage its students to develop a strong social conscience and sense of community.
